About Earth Data 360

A simple visual explorer for comparing countries with clear ranking colors, lightweight interactions, and visible data references.

What the map shows

Earth Data 360 compares countries across open global datasets such as tourism, population, GDP per capita, electricity access, internet use, life expectancy, CO2 emissions, energy use, democracy, and tobacco use. Pick a topic to recolor the map and compare countries at a glance. Please note: country markers and dots are placed approximately and may not align precisely with the exact geographic location of the country they refer to.

Earthdata360 uses GDELT to discover and index global news coverage. Recent article links, source names, publication times, topic labels and score-based summaries are displayed to help users understand what is being written about most right now in each country. Earthdata360 does not claim ownership of linked articles. All article content and rights belong to the respective publishers. Topic ranking, labels and summaries may be generated automatically and may contain errors.

How the colors work

The color scale follows ranking bands. For positive measures, stronger green marks higher-ranked countries and warmer colors move down the ranking. For measures where lower values are better, such as pollution, inflation, poverty, or mortality, the scale may be inverted so lower values are shown as stronger results. Countries without matching data stay neutral.

How to explore

Click a country to see its value, rank, data year, and source details. Use the zoom controls when you want to inspect smaller countries or dense regions.
